Sierra Foothills Real Estate Magazine features agents presenting real estate for sale in five counties in the Sierra Nevada Foothills Gold Country of Northern California, beginning about 30 miles east of Sacramento. Most of the properties in the magazine are located in the historic Gold Country areas of Nevada County, Placer County, El Dorado County and Sierra County. Many of the properties are in the Grass Valley-Nevada City areas of Nevada County, which is also home to the gated, recreational golf and lake communities of Lake of the Pines in South Nevada County and Lake Wildwood in Western Nevada County, and where you will also find beautiful Scotts Flat Lake just above Nevada City, and Rollins Lake near the Peardale-Chicago Park area.

In Placer County, Auburn, Meadow Vista and Applegate are popular because of the easy commute to Sacramento via I-80. If you travel east towards Truckee, Reno and Lake Tahoe, there are many properties in the quaint towns of Weimar, Colfax, Alta and Dutch Flat.

The El Dorado County Gold Country area offers the gated equestrian, golf and lake community of Auburn Lake Trails, less than a mile or two from Cool and Pilot Hill. Farther along Highway 193 in the Georgetown-Foresthill Divide area is an area beloved by the 4-wheel drive enthusiasts from all over the country, with the Jeep Jamboree headquartered in Georgetown. Nearby are the areas around Garden Valley and Coloma, home of the famous Sutter's Mill, where the discovery of gold triggered the California Gold Rush of 1849.

Most foothill areas are within an hour's drive of beautiful Lake Tahoe and the nearby downhill and cross-country ski areas such as Squaw Valley, Northstar, Sugar Bowl, Diamond Peak, Mt. Rose, Royal Gorge, and many more. For those who want to take advantage of the shopping opportunities, Sacramento is also less than an hour's drive, and the San Francisco Bay Area is about two hours away. The Sierra Foothills are ideal for those who want to get away from the city yet still be within an easy driving distance of the city areas.
